Giving "Jerome Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.Bxf7+) odds" to a Chess.com bot, I stumbled my way to the following endgame position.
Black can not win, but should not lose. (After the game, Stockfish 17.1, at 83 ply, evaluated the position as 0.00.)
In fact, the game was a bit of a bother.
Although I was better from move 14 onward, I missed a Rook sacrifice at move 17 that would have led to checkmate; at move 21, I missed another possible Rook sacrice leading to checkmate in 4 moves; and, later, still, a Queen sacrifice at move 23, which would also have led to a checkmate in 4.
In the end, I had to trust my faithful "Jerome pawns" to, once again, see me through.
